Battle of the Bone - only at The Native New Yorker

Wow, Avondale can consume wings!!!  However, our winner Robert Harper split prior to the awards ceremony, so pictured with Roc and Manuch as well as Nicole is our runner up Justin Lyon!   All but one contestant ate 2 or more ounces.  A first!!!  And we had another contestant use the “Chuck Bucket” which means an automatic DQ - Zach Walker, who is pictured with the mohawk.  Great crowd!  Native New Yorker, Bud Light and Right Honda thank everyone who came out!  Don’t forget the finale is set for Saturday afternoon September 6th at the Tempe location.

Week 17 took Roc and Manuch and the rest of the Native New Yorker Wing Eating team up to the cool pines of northeastern Arizona - Show Low!  The competition was played in 70 degree weather!  Lauren and Jamie, the owners of the Native New Yorker in Show Low had a packed house as 10 contestants went at it!  The wing eaters and the large loud crowd enjoyed a great night of competition and rowdiness!  The battle of was decided by less than 0.3 ounces.  Mark Hansen edged Eric Grant 2lbs 4.30z to 2lbs 4 oz.   It was also very entertaining that Jordan Sprung was disqualified for using the “Chuck Bucket”!

The INAUGURAL ARIZONA WING EATING CONTEST is well underway and it’s a HUGE success. The “Battle of the Bone” wing eating contest takes place over the course of 24 weeks with the Grand Prize Winner to receive a two year lease on a new car, a Honda Element from Right Honda.

• Every Wednesday from March 19, 2008 - August 27, 2008 at each of the 24 Arizona Native New Yorker locations
• Roc & Manuch will be broadcasting live from 3pm-6pm from that weeks NNY “Battle of the Bone” wing eating contest location.
• All semi-finalists will compete in the Grand Finale Round, which will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2008!  More details to follow.
• Lunch with Kevin McCabe & Friends will also be in on the action weekly with live call-ins from a reporter from that same weeks contest location from 10am-12pm!

Week 16 of the Battle of the Bone 2008 Wing Eating contest was packed in Goodyear, Arizona!  Jacob Bell feasted on over 2lbs 4ounces to qualify for the finals in September to win the Right Honda Element.  The Goodyear location was standing room only in their great bar area.  Goodyear represented as not one contestant falled to hit the total weight consumed of one ounce.

Another great crowd attended Week 15 of the Battle of the Bone 2008 Wing Eating contest!  Jonny Fiderio consumed over two and half pounds of delicious Native New Yorker medium wings to advance to the finals on Saturday, September 6th.  Week 15 saw two ladies (Jodi Mills and Tracy Noonan) competing with a huge support staff all wearing their light blue tee-shirts.  The ladies were representing in Chandler!  Once again another packed crowd, this time at the Chandler Heights and Alma School location!  Photos to follow…

Casey Kupisch was our Maricopa Native New Yorker Wing Eater winner for Week 14, by what some wing-pros would call a landslide.  Kupisch consumed 1lb 15.1oz beating the runner up by close to 6 ounces (Brian Lacombe 1lb 10.7oz).  The great staff at the Maricopa Native New Yorker, Crystal from Bud Light, DJ Rocco and Roc and Manuch want to thank everyone who attended and competed!  Photos to follow…

Collin Gardiner feasted on over 3lbs of Native New Yorker Wings to currently own the overall lead in the most consumed meat!   However, a lot credit goes out to runner up Joseph “Tatoo Joe” Wayant, who actually beat the old record set in Signal Butte (2lbs 15.5oz) as he edged it out by a quarter of an ounce at 2lbs 15.75oz.  But when the night was done, Gardiner took Week 13 by reaching the 3lb mark.   Surprise was a huge success as all of the contestants, wingmen, and wingwomen really rallied and showed a ton of energy during all three rounds.  Congrats to Surprise as they have consumed the most wings of any Native New Yorker thus far!!!  Seven contestants over 2lbs!  Great spot!
